Misal Festival in Mumbai.

“Let things taste the way they are.” – Alice Waters

Mumbai enjoyed the most famous dish ‘Misal’ festival from 13th-15th April in Vile Parle, organized by Mangalbai Bhagwat Foundation.

Misal is a very popular spicy dish in the western Indian state of Maharashtra and is mostly eaten for breakfast or as a midday snack or sometimes as a one-dish meal.

Misal word literally means ‘mixture’ in the Marathi language as its consists of various ingredients like curry (could be moth bean or dried bean) but masala varies, mash potatoes, farsan, and Pav (bread) and curd (optional) to cool down your taste buds.

Being one of the popular dish its variety, taste, and spiciness changes as per region of the state and we had the opportunity to try some in this event!

My favorite was from Devghad Misal, it was one of the tastiest of all with the right balance of spice and thickness and Naad Khula Misal because their curry was made from green chilies instead of red and I absolutely loved it!

We had Kamat icecream to cool our selves down. Their Mirchi (green chili) ice cream was something to try and Chocolate Chip and Chickoo ones were good!

The event also had the stall to showcase live tribal art called Warli.
