If I were trapped in one city and had to eat one nation’s cuisine for the rest of my life, I would not mind eating Japanese. I adore Japanese food. I love it.

The Fatty Bao , another amazing venture from Olive Bar& Kitchen started in Bangalore ,now making waves in Mumbai.
We visited their Bandra outlet. The location is so perfect ,even though its on busiest street but once get past their red door, you are into this nice chic Japanese style dining ambiance with cute little containers, panda paintings, unique chandelier and a bar counter.

So impressed by this and we haven’t talked about the food yet.
Lets get started.
We started of with nice cute little ,yummy steamed Prawns & Garlic chives dim-sums. Comes with 6 pieces per order and tastes amazing when dipped with chili soy .
Its sushi time!
First up, California Roll or also known as makizushi roll which was rolled having cucumber . avocado and crab meat .
Tastes good , a bit dry though.
Tuna with Yuzu and Soy sushi. This was a Nigri sushi i.e fish slice on vinegar rice ball with yuzu (japenese citric fruit) .Your mouth just fills up with so much flavor and its juiciness . This one was my favorite.
Each sushi is served with radish and ginger as a pallet cleanser and there is an option for 4 or 6 portions

Now the dish type the restaurant is famous for so much its got in their name too – Bao.
Teriyaki Glazed Chicken Bao – perfect pan seared chicken with some pickled cucumber and Japanese spices inside soft bread(bao). This was a good bao.
Chili Crab & Prawn Bao– This was a banger. It contained Crab and prawn meat with fried garlic and pickled watermelon with level that heat/spiciness which hits you a little bit later.
Two pieces of bao in each dish.

We ain’t finish yet . Its slurrrrrp time.
We really loved Spicy Asian Noodles with Prawns gravy on it. That spiciness comes from Bird’s eye chili pepper but was flavorful .

And but not the least Desert . Your hearty meal isn’t completed without it.
Fatty Hill , it looked so gorgeous and yummy . This could be my whole lunch if i had too.
It’s mint chocolate pyramid with rice krispies (kurmure) on it served with vanilla ice cream beside . The idea of having rice krispies on a desert is just out of this world but its so delicious.

Best thing about Japanese food that its so light on your stomach.
Overall the experience was awesome , food and hospitality were great.
Due to its popularity its better to go in early and prior reservation is recommended.
Good job The Fatty Bao !
